Book Review: The Women

Book Review: The Women

Heartbreaking and raw.

These are the words I've used to describe Kristin Hannah's latest novel, The Women, whenever I rave about it to anyone looking for their next page-turner.

Hannah expertly weaves a fictional tale among real events and highlights often overlook narratives. The Women follows Frankie McGrath in the naiveté of her early 20s as she enlists as a nurse in the Vietnam War . It follows her into adulthood through struggles of love, friendship, family, and more. The book deals with big themes that can be hard to face but Hannah handles them beautiful and with the respect that they deserve.

While I do have two minor criticisms for the book, one being that the ending felt rushed compared to the rest of the story, I can't deny that I became completely consumed by its story. Only putting it down to eat, sleep and weep.

I can't recommend it enough.
